A U.S. federal judge has ordered Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro to appear in a U.S. courtroom for a hearing on March 17, 2026.

The order was filed this week in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, where the case against Maduro is being heard.

The case stems from charges brought by U.S. prosecutors after Maduro was removed from power following a U.S. military operation in early January.

Maduro is charged with narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices.

Maduro’s detention in U.S. custody has been widely reported and remains central to the legal proceedings.

His lawyers are expected to address jurisdictional issues and procedural questions at the March 17 hearing.

So far, Maduro’s legal team has not publicly commented on the order, and the U.S. Justice Department has declined to provide detailed statements pending further filings.

During court proceedings, Maduro declared himself a prisoner of war, political prisoner and the legitimate president of Venezuela.

He also pleaded not guilty to all charges. His wife Cilia Flores reportedly sustained significant injuries in the abduction.
