Kumasi Asante Kotoko has registered a much needed victory in an entertaining Ghana Premier League encounter against Inter Allies.
Hearts of Oaks win against Medeama yesterday means The porcupine warriors sit 3 points behind their fierce rivals in the race to clinch the 2020/2021 Premier league title heading into their game against the Tema based club.
Kotoko took the lead in the 27th minute when Gyamfi found the back of the net with a lovely back heel recycling a wayward Adomako header after Patrick Asmah sent a cross into the opponent’s box.
Their lead lasted for only twelve minutes with the home side grabbing a deserved equalizer through Aso.
Both teams became more careful with their attacks with Kotoko needing the win to catch Hearts at the top just as Inter also needs it badly to give themselves hope of survival in the league but that didn’t turn out well for them as a loose ball from the middle gave the chance to Kotoko to take the lead.
A Stubborn and disciplined Inter Allies side grabbed their second equalizer of the game leaving the visitors frustrated but kept pushing until they got their reward with Appau heading past the goalkeeper straight into the right corner to make it 3-2 in Favour of the Kumasi based side.
Kotoko are now leveled with Hearts of Oak on point, 53 with the Phobians having the upper hand due to the goal difference rules.
