The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, has been given another great recognition by the University of Cape Coast.

The renowned king was honored with a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at a special congregation at the University of Cape Coast.

The award is in recognition for his distinguished statesmanship, contribution to education in Ghana.

It is also to recognize his effort in the country’s system as a purveyor of traditional jurisprudence, advocate of rule of law, promoter of peace and stability, visionary and generational thinker, entrepreneur, guardian of culture and role model.

Otumfuo is one of the most influential personalities available in the country and he is highly respected.

It is therefore not a surprise to anyone that he was given such a high-profile recognition by the University.

South Korea’s TV Chosun reported on Tuesday that North Korean authorities sentenced between 20 and 30 individuals to death last month for failing to prevent the deadly flooding.

The report went on to state that due to the North’s extreme secrecy, details are hard to confirm, but the North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Kim instructed authorities to “strictly punish” officials after devastating floods struck Chagang Province, near the Chinese border, in July.

Ugandan Olympic athlete Rebecca Cheptegei has died at a Kenyan hospital after sustaining 80% burns to her body following an attack by her partner on Sunday.

The 33-year-old Cheptegei had been receiving treatment after partner, Dickson Ndiema, bought a container of petrol, poured it on her and set her on fire.

“The couple were heard quarrelling outside their house. During the altercation, the boyfriend was seen pouring a liquid on the woman before burning her,” police told the Standard newspaper in Kenya.

The suspect was also caught by the fire and sustained serious burns and is currently being treated at the same hospital as Cheptegei.

Cheptegei’s parents said their daughter bought land in Trans-Nzoia to be near the Kenya’s many athletic training centres.

A report filed by local police chief said that the couple were heard fighting over the land where the house was built before the fire started.

Nomcebo Zuma, daughter of former president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma is reportedly set to marry Eswatini King as his 16th wife.

In a post by the guardian, the former president’s daughter is 21 years old and will be given to this king who is currently 56 years old.

The Eswatini kind is said to have “led Africa’s last absolute monarchy since taking power in 1986 and has been criticised for his lavish lifestyle while most of the population lives in poverty.”

Reports indicate that, the king and Zuma’s daughter are already engaged following a traditional ceremony where Zuma’s daughter and other girls danced for the monarch.

The engagement ceremony was held at “the Ludzidzini royal village in Lobamba” and thousands of people were there to grace the occasion.

King Mswati, known for being polygamous is said to have a history of taking brides who are below 18 years. He made headlines somewhere in 2005 over his marriage to a 17 year old girl as his 13th wife.

The feud between the Asantehene and the Dormaahene keep rising and this time, the Dormaahene has revealed Otumfour is not powerful than he is.

At an event, the Dormaahene took the mic and decided to set things straight, in response to an earlier comment by the Asantehene.

He said, “Every Ghanaian should note this, without any contradiction, no body should ever say it anywhere that comparing Otumfour to all other Royals in the country, he is the one with the least land possession.”

“He is the king with the least. Ya Na’s land is big, Na Yiri also has a big land. Look at where Kumasi is, and look at the little he has, you think all the lands in the Ashanti Region belongs to him? It does not.”

“They hail him as “Ote k))so.” What k))k) is that? He has money? Gold is in Obuasi. Lands in Obuasi does not belong to him.”
