“Phobia on Fire” Hearts beat Medeama to maintain top spot

Accra Hearts of Oak has taken another giant step towards their first league trophy in clinch in many years with a hard fought victory over Medeama.

The Phobians head into the game leveled on point with fierce rivals, Asante Kotoko with 50 points each and they are very much aware even a draw won’t guarantee them space at the top if Kotoko win their game so the job needs to be done.

The man of the Moment, Ibrahim Salifu who gained the nickname Di Maria due to his bold way of terrorizing defenders gave Hearts the lead with a low drive into the back of the net.

Hearts celebrating their goal

Medeama kept pushing but looks shaky and was caught on the counter attack many times. Hearts sealed their victory when Benjamin Afutu superbly met a cross in a Ronaldo way to beat the goalkeeper with his head.

The result means Hearts extended their lead at the top of the table to 53 after match day 29 which is 3 better than Kotoko who still has a game at hand coming up against bottom side Inter Allies.
