‘was she not dating then?’- reactions as Asantehene’s wife recounts on how she met him and calling her to his house for dinner
Otumfuor’s wife, Lady Julia Osei Tutu has revealed how she first met Otumfuor in a speech at the 74th birthday dinner of the Asantehene.
According to Lady Julia, she visited Kumasi as Ecobank’s legal and corporate affairs officer who was then tasked to give the vote of thanks at an inauguration of the first branch of Ecobank that saw Otumfuor also being present.
“Otumfuor and I first met when I came to Kumasi as the legal and corporate affairs officer of Ecobank, Ghana. I was tasked with giving the vote of thanks for the inauguration of the first branch of Ecobank in Kumasi,” she said.
Lady Julia revealed that, Otumfuor confirmed being mesmerized when he first saw her at the event and even refused to leave the ceremony until he had spoken to her.
“He tells me that he was mesmerized that at the end of the ceremony , even though it had started to rain he refused to leave, despite the prompting of his courtiers. he made sure he found out who I was and how to get in touch with me before leaving the event grounds. That evening, I was summoned by my managing director, the late John Aka, to dinner at Otumfuor’s residence. Little did I know that I was auditioning for the role of a lifetime. And here we are 22 years, 22 wonderful years later and many beautiful children, grandchildren, nieces,nephews and an amazing extended family.”
