Prez. Akufo Addo Steps In to pay 3 million cedis to aide the separation of Siamese Twins
Ghana’s President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has stepped in to pay the 3 million cedis needed for doctors to perform a surgery on Siamese twins at Accra.
On 1st June 2021, many news outlet captured that, Medical doctors at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) are racing against time to separate two-month-old conjoined babies.
This is the first time the doctors in the hospital will conduct such a specialised operation.
The Siamese twins are conjoined at the head and will need an amount of GH¢3,000.000.00 for surgery to enable them live independently.
One of Ghana’s leading media brand Excellence in Broadcasting( EIB) operators of Starrfm, Ghone Tv among others have since been soliciting for funds to aide the surgery since the parents of the twins cannot afford such amount.
Individual have since been donating through mobile money number provided to held save the lives of the twins.
In a post on Twitter today, Johnnie Hughes of Tv3 said the President Nana Akufo Addo has announced through chief of staff Frema Opare that he will be taking all the bills needed for the surgery to separate the twins.
