U.S President Biden has officially signed the TikTok ban into law as of today.

This will force the company to either sell it to an American CEO or face being banned in the country.

According to CNN, the new bill gives TikTok’s Chinese parent, ByteDance, 270 days to sell the app. If they fail to sell it, it would lead to significant consequences, such as TikTok being prohibited from US app stores and from “internet hosting services” that support it. It would also restrict new downloads of the app and interaction with its content.

According to the new bill, TikTok has until January 19, 2025, to adhere to the rules and regulations set in place by the bill. It could, though, be pushed back another 90 days if Biden sees progress with a potential sale.
