Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, received two yellow cards during the match against LOSC Lille, but he wasn’t sent off.

The former Arsenal goalkeeper, got a yellow card in the 39th minute for time wasting and received a second yellow card for shushing the crowd after saving Nabil Bentaleb’s penalty in the shootout. Surprisingly, he was not sent off despite getting two yellow cards.
According to IFAB, yellow cards and warnings from the game don’t carry forward into penalties. However, a player who receives a red card during the game cannot participate in the penalty shootout.

The incident irked the French fans making them angrier, and they kept hooting at the Argentine player.
But he stayed calm and saved two penalties, helping Villa advance to the semi-finals.
